Relationships and Sex Education for schools and colleges
Sexual Health Bexley’s community outreach service aims to support Bexley residents, particularly young people, with comprehensive education about sexual health. Our team is friendly, inclusive and skilled at answering even the most awkward questions about sexual health!
We offer a range of FREE activities to support Bexley schools and colleges to deliver high-quality Relationships and Sex Education (RSE).
Please email us on bromh.sexualhealthbexley@nhs.net to discuss your school or college's needs.
We offer educational sessions for young people in Year 9 and up, in both mainstream and specialist schools in Bexley. These include interactive workshops and assemblies, and can be tailored to your students' needs and timetable.
Our sessions are designed to provide accurate information, encourage healthy relationships, and support positive sexual health choices. We can discuss:
- Contraception
- Sexually transmitted infections (prevention and testing)
- Consent
- Healthy relationships
All of our sessions include signposting to local sexual health and support services, and we can work closely with your RSHE Lead and/or safeguarding team to develop sessions which meet your students' needs.
We offer free health promotion activities for Bexley secondary schools and colleges: providing sexual health information, resources, and support to students through 1-1 drop-ins and lunchtime stalls.
We know that teaching and talking about sexual health with young people can feel challenging.
We can deliver bespoke sexual health training for Bexley school and college staff, aimed at increasing:
- Understanding of core topics such as contraception, STIs, consent and sex and the law
- Confidence in discussing these issues with young people
- Knowledge of how and where young people can access local sexual health services
We can deliver training online or in person; please contact us to discuss your needs.
We run the London C-Card Scheme for Bexley: a free condom distribution scheme for under-25s. This initiative aims to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unplanned pregnancies in young people's relationships.
Schools and colleges are welcome to sign up as outlets for the C-Card Scheme. This is cost-free and a great way of supporting your students with their sexual health.
To find out more, you can sign up to one of our free C-Card trainings or contact our team on bromh.sexualhealthbexley@nhs.net.
